About the role
The General Surgical Fellow position at CCDHB is a position designed to assist the transition from registrar to independent practice. It is a general surgery fellowship with exposure to supervised learning in all the general surgery sub-specialities at tertiary level. The fellow also has the opportunity to tailor their exposure to these sub-specialities to favour their future career goals. In addition you will be responsible for your own operating lists and clinics without direct SMO oversight.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in furthering their general surgery skills and experience. The role sits within the dynamic, supportive general surgical environment and provides a lot of opportunities to further develop including opportunities for research up to Masters level through the University or Otago Medical School.
Skills & Experience
• An early career General Surgery Fellow who has completed the Royal Australasian College of
Surgeons (RACS) training program in general surgery (or equivalent); or
• A Senior Registrar who has passed the RACS Fellowship exam in General Surgery who is yet to
• Must have New Zealand Medical Council registration
