Location: Wellington

Contract: Fixed term position - 12 months

Hours: 0.8 FTE - 32 hours per week

About the role
The Haematology service is part of Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre, incorporating a full mix of Haematology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Palliative Care services. You will be working in new state of the art facilities at the Wellington Blood and Cancer Centre and in addition to delivering specialised services you will have the opportunity for clinical research.

The Haematology team provides clinical haematology services to a catchment of 500,000 people. This encompasses the management of the full spectrum of haematological malignancies including auto and allogeneic stem cell transplantation. Services are provided for non-malignant haematology including haemostasis and thrombosis services. There is full involvement in the Haematology Laboratory Service.

The principal focus of the service is high-quality patient care with particular emphasis on multidisciplinary patient management. In addition to this we have a strong commitment to staff education/development.

Although experience in Clinical Haematology and Pathology will be an advantage, applications from recently qualified specialists will be considered. This role is predominantly a clinical role, with a small laboratory component.

Skills and Experience
FRACP or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
Clinical and laboratory Haematology experience (essential)
Fellowship in clinical and laboratory haematology (desirable)
Interest in thrombosis
Relevant training and experience
Advanced trainees in haematology toward the end of their training (final year) are encouraged to apply. Applications for 12 months or part of the 12 month period would be considered for this role. This is a part time role working 32 hours per week (0.8 FTE).

Qualifications required

Vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
FRACP or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
FRCPA or equivalent and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
