About the role
We are looking for a Rehabilitation Physician to work as part of the team in our dedicated Rehab Unit based at Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua. The person in this role will be part of the wider Older Adults, Rehabilitation and Allied Health service, who work across all three of our community bases, as well as both acute settings in the Wellington Regional Hospital and Kenepuru Community Hospital.
The current vacancy is a role in the Kenepuru Inpatient MDT, working alongside Allied health and Nursing; there is a second rehabilitation SMO who is based in the community.
The unit is a busy rehabilitation unit with a cross mix of diagnosis including stroke; amputee’s; and other neurological conditions. The unit is supported by an Early Supported Discharge service (AWHI) and community teams who provide rehabilitation to enable rehabilitation to continue across the continuum.
As a senior medical officer, you will provide specialist clinical services and also training and mentoring for junior medical staff attached to the Rehabilitation Services. The on call requirement is 1:7-8 on-call.
Skills & Experience
You will need to be vocationally registered in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). Ideally you will also hold FRACP or equivalent.
